Overview
OneCampus is a comprehensive school payment platform that connects educational institutions with parents through BCEL's mobile banking ecosystem. The system handles tuition payments, fee management, and financial reporting for schools across Laos.
Backstory
School fee collection in Laos was predominantly cash-based, creating challenges for both schools and parents. Schools struggled with cash handling, reconciliation, and tracking payments. Parents had to visit schools in person to make payments, often during working hours. This inefficiency was particularly acute in rural areas where banking access was limited.
Action
I designed and built a full-stack solution that integrated directly with BCEL's mobile banking app. The backend, built with Express.js and connected to Oracle on AWS RDS, handled school onboarding, student enrollment, fee scheduling, and payment processing. I created an admin portal for schools to manage their fee structures and view real-time payment reports. The mobile integration allowed parents to pay fees instantly from their phones with automatic receipt generation.
Result
OneCampus now serves over 1,000 schools nationwide and is accessible to 2 million BCEL customers. Schools report significant time savings in fee collection and reconciliation. Parent satisfaction improved as they can now pay fees anytime, anywhere. The platform processes thousands of transactions daily during peak enrollment periods and has become essential infrastructure for education in Laos.
